Achievements
Village Savings and Loans Associations
- By the end of 2009 268 VSLA groups had been funded, operating in 40 parishes of Kumi and Bukedea;
- 6,769 members have been involved with the VSLA project (5,138 members saving; 1,631 undergoing training);
- 33,845 children and family members have benefited from the scheme;
- The total amount saved is 149,922,100 Ugandan Shillings (approximately £45,430);
- On average each saver makes £20 profit per year on their savings. When your annual earnings are less than £150 per year, that extra £20 can make an enormous difference.

-
It has also asisted 100 households with orphans (700 family members in total) and 120 out-of-school members in six community support groups;
-
300 households have received the nutritional benefits of cassava cuttings and bean seeds;
- 24 Village Savings and Loans groups comprising 480 members have been set up in the area to give carers the income resources needed to take care of the orphans in their charge.
