Build Africa's Achievements
Since 2004 Build Africa's work has improved the lives of young people in remote districts of Uganda and Kenya.
- We have worked in 88 schools benefitting over 100,000 children. Build a School has seen a 71% increase in enrolment in the schools in Uganda we work with, as well as a 75% increase in entry to Primary Level Exams. In 2008 alone, Build Africa built 47 classrooms and 77 toilets for 10,000 children, we renovated 14 classrooms for 904 pupils and provided 3 water supplies for 1,200 children and teachers.

- The Build a Farm programme has gone from strength to strength with the price received by farmers rising from 3p to 23p per kilo in 2008. Many farmers have doubled their incomes enabling them to send their children to school, access health care and plough money back into the business.

Training of peer educators and the establishment of health clubs has increased awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention with over 20,000 children at 27 schools. More than half of all students surveyed in the schools we work with can name three ways in which to prevent HIV. This is in comparison to just 17% of the adult population of Uganda.
